CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Isabelle Saunders and Roosevelt (Chicken) Whyley are this week’s Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
Saunders, a computer networking technology program student from Charlottetown, helped lead the ‘Canes to victory at the 39th annual Harbour City Lakers Colt tournament in Dartmouth, N.S.
Saunders finished second in scoring for the ‘Canes with eight points in five games as the Hurricanes went undefeated in the event, winning the championship game 4-3 over the Saint Mary’s Huskies.
Whyley, a fourth-year player from Nassau, Bahamas, led the Hurricanes to back-to-back wins over University of King’s College Blue Devils.
The six-foot-six forward scored 26 points and added 14 rebounds, three assists and a block in the Hurricanes 133-92 win on Saturday before recording 18 points, 17 rebounds and five assists in Sunday’s 117-79 win.
