AMHERST, N.S. – It has been a busy time for the Summerside Saultos Gymnastics Club.
The Saultos were represented by 17 athletes at the Irish Rose invitational event in Miramichi, N.B. Club members also participated in the Aerials invitational in Amherst, N.S., recently as well.
In Miramichi, the Saultos swept the podium in the Argo Level 6 category. Clara Arsenault took first on vault, bar, beam, floor and all-round. Quinn Gavin was second on vault, beam and all-round, and Isla Shea was second on bars and floor and third all-round.
Bridget Philpott placed third on beam and all-round in the Novice Level 6 category, with Emily Ramsay placing third on bars, beam and floor.
Charlotte Schofield took home first on the bars, and Sydney Palmer placed first in the floor routine.
In Open Level 6, Emmy Mae MacLeod placed second all-round, and first on floor and bars. Bryn Shea was third all-round as well as on floor, beam and bars. Chloe Betts took home second on the vault.
In the Tyro Level 6 category, Lauren Monkley placed second on floor.
Combined, the Saultos’ Level 6 girls took home silver in the team competition.
In Open Level 8, Alyssa Mugridge placed first all-round. She was also first on the beam and bars while placing second on floor and vault.
In Open Level 7, Anna Bernard placed first on the beam.
Amherst competition
In Amherst, N.S., the Saultos’ Alexa McCarthy placed third on the vault in the Tyro Level 4 group, and was ninth on the beam.
Deirdre Studer placed fourth on the vault while Payton Maund was ninth on the beam. Lucy Miller was also ninth on the vault.
