CAP-PELÉ, N.B. – It has not been the start the defending Island Junior Hockey League champions were hoping for.
The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings dropped a 3-0 road decision to the Cap-Pelé Predators on Friday night to fall to 0-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses) in regular-season play. The game was part of an interlocking schedule with the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League.
The Predators, who scored once in each period, received goals from Marcel Newcomb, Marc Gallie and Simon Savoie Vienneau. Mathieu Landry recorded a 37-save shutout while Red Wings goaltender Colby Landrigan turned aside 33 of 36 shots.
The Red Wings return home to host Moncton in another interlocking contest at the Evangeline Recreation Centre on Sunday at 7 p.m.
In action Saturday, the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (2-0-0) visit Cocagne, N.B. The Vipers host a game at Community Gardens on Sunday, entertaining the Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros (3-1-1) at 7 p.m.
