ABRAM-VILLAGE – Lucas Beaulieu and Abel Arsenault scored third-period goals as the Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings rallied for their 12th win in a row on Sunday night.
Beaulieu tied the game at 7:12, and Arsenault’s goal at 16:34 proved to be the winner as the Red Wings edged the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers 4-3.
The win improved the Island Junior Hockey League-leading Red Wings’ record to 14-5-2 (won-lost-overtime losses). The third-place Vipers fell to 9-11-3.
At the Evangeline Recreation Centre, Spencer Groom and Jason Gallant also scored for the Red Wings. Calvin McRae, Curklan Fraser and Cole Hackett added assists.
Tyler Gallant, Campbell Gallant and Easton Smith replied for the Vipers. Jacob Stewart (2), Riley Gallant (2) and Logan Vandervelden chipped in with helpers.
The teams were tied 2-2 after the first period, and the Vipers took a 3-2 advantage into the final 20 minutes.
Overall, the Red Wings outshot the Vipers 47-22, including period advantages of 15-8, 13-6 and 19-8. Bronson Banks earned the goaltending win, and Rett Rook was between the pipes for Kensington.
