SUMMERSIDE – It was a big day for Special Olympics P.E.I.’s tenpin bowling team on Wednesday.
That is when the four-member squad, coached by Ann Kilby of Tyne Valley, won the bronze medal in the team competition of the Special Olympics Canada 2018 bowling championships. The team competition took place at the Credit Union Place lanes in Summerside on Tuesday.
“We are super proud of the team,” said Genna Phelan, chef de mission with Team P.E.I. “They had a great winter of training, and it proves hard work pays off for them.”
Team members Wayne Dyment of Summerside, Paul Phillips of Summerside, Jenna Smith of Ellerslie and Kevin Ramsay of Tyne Valley all bowled three games as part of the team competition.
“It’s a great way to start the competition,” added Phelan. “They competed in doubles (Thursday), and will bowl in singles competition on Friday.”
The medal presentations will take place at Credit Union Place on Saturday at 9 a.m.
