O’LEARY

Today, Wedneday, Dec. 6, is the deadline to register for the P.E.I. Pepsi Junior Men’s and Junior Women’s Curling championships. All entries must be in by tonight at 11:59 p.m. Junior curlers who are a maximum of 20 years of age as of June 30, 2017, are eligible.

As of Wednesday morning four men’s and five women’s teams were registered. All four members of Lauren Lenentine’s 2016-17 provincial championship team are back. Defending champion men’s skip, Tyler Smith, is playing on a New Brunswick team this year.

The respective championships will be played at the Maple Leaf Curling Club in O’Leary from Wednesday, December 27 to Sunday, December 31. The winning men’s and winning women’s team will advance to the 2018 New Holland Canadian Junior championships which are being hosted at the Centre municipal de curling de Shawinigan and Aréna Grand-Mère, in Shawinigan, Quebec from January 13 to 21.
