CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - It’s crack of the bat time as the P.E.I. Junior Islanders hit the diamond Sunday for a doubleheader against the Saint John Alpines.

Game 1 start time is noon in Summerside. The New Brunswick Junior Baseball League doubledip had been originally scheduled for June 3, but bad weather forced the postponement.

The Isles (5-7) sit in fourth place in the five-team circuit, three and a half games back of the league-leading Metro Mudcats (8-3). Saint John (4-6) is fifth and also three and a half games back.

P.E.I.’s Chasse Gallant is second in the league with a .480 batting average, while Cole Flowers leads the Alpines in average (.320) and RBIs (seven).

On the mound, Brett Hicken is 2-1 with a 3.20 earned run average for the Isles. The Alpines Ryan Nason is 2-0 and leads the league in ERA (0.84) and strikeouts (28).
