Peardon paces Kings take two-game lead

SUMMERSIDE – The Kings County Kings are one way away from advancing in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs.

Reid Peardon scored three goals and assisted on another in leading the Kings to a 4-2 victory over the Summerside Capitals on Wednesday night. The win gives the Kings a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five quarter-final series, with Game 3 scheduled for the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris on Friday at 8 p.m.
The other quarter-final set between the Central Attack and Western Regals will open at the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton on Friday at 8:10 p.m. Game 2 is at MacLauchlan Arena on the UPEI campus in Charlottetown on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

At Credit Union Place, Lucas MacAulay added a goal and two helpers for the Kings, who received other assists from Tyson McInnis (2) and Jacob MacEachern.
Brandon Hastings netted both Summerside goals unassisted.
The Kings built period leads of 2-1 and 4-2.
Ben Bruce made 18 saves in earning the goaltending win. Carter Champion had a much busier night in the Summerside goal, making 35 stops on 39 shots.
