GEORGETOWN – Riley Payne, Brady VanderVelden and Ryan Beckingham led the way as the Southside Lynx capped a four-point weekend.
One night after pulling out a 5-4 shootout win against the North River Flames in Crapaud, the Lynx posted a 7-2 road victory over the Georgetown Eagles on Sunday in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.
Payne netted a hat trick and added an assist while VanderVelden had two goals and a pair of helpers for four-point efforts. Beckingham, who scored the winning goal against North River, contributed three assists.
Kyle McGuigan (1-1) and Jared Gilroy rounded out the scoring for the Lynx, who moved into sole possession of second place at 7-3-0 (won-lost-overtime losses). Tyson Beckingham (2), Tyler Jurkowski (2), Allan Larsen, Nick VanderVelden and Cameron Nelson added other assists.
Riley Lavandier and Jarrett King replied for the Eagles (1-7-1). Derian Johnson and Ben Doucette assisted.
Overall, the Lynx held a 35-24 shots-on-goal advantage. Winning goaltender Sean MacPhee.
