SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Rose Run Quest and Czar Seelster have proven to be the top pacers on Canada’s Eastern Seaboard but Euchred could have something to say about that in invitational action Sunday at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

There are 13 dashes on the 1 p.m. card at the Prince County half-mile track, including a $3,500 invitational pace in Race 12 with the best pacers in Atlantic Canada. Rose Run Quest was a narrow winner over Czar Seelster in his latest start for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owner Blair Hansen of Charlottetown.

The six-year-old son of If I Can Dream finished third in the $60,000 Guardian Gold Cup and Saucer the start prior during Old Home Week racing in Charlottetown. Old Home Week was also kind to Czar Seelster, who captured the $20,000 James (Roach) MacGregor Gold Cup and Saucer consolation then fell short of Rose Run Quest last week.

While those two pacers as heralded as the top picks, race analyst Bo Ford is headed in a different direction as the dominate pacer of the first part of the season, Euchred, has drawn Post 2 with David Dowling in the bike for the first time behind the Terry Gallant-trainee.

“We’re playing a hunch on this horse,” Ford said. “Euchred will prove to be mighty

tough off the front Sunday and with the inside post and Dave Dowling at the helm, the rest of them may want to make sure they have their holders in place.”

After The Lovin puts her undefeated career on the line is Race 5 for a $1,350 purse with Dowling at the lines for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms of Hampshire, P.E.I., and River Valley Management of New Brunswick. The two-year-old daughter of Carnivore is a sister to Maritime champion Lovineveryminute and is looking to make a name for herself with no blemishes in her two-race career.
