CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Mackenzie Koughan and Jalen King are this week’s Holland College Hurricanes athletes of the week.
Koughan, a second-year goaltender for the Hurricanes women’s hockey team, backstopped Holland College to back-to-back wins against the Acadia Axewomen during the weekend.
She stopped 29 of 31 shots in Saturday’s 3-2 victory before making 16 saves in Sunday’s 4-1 win.
The Johnston’s River native, who is studying in the human services program, has a 6-1-0 record with two shutouts and a goals-against-average of 1.67 this season.
King, a guard in his first year with Holland College, helped the ‘Canes win twice on the road during the weekend.
He contributed 14 points, three rebounds and two assists off the bench in Saturday’s 104-61 win over the Dal AC Rams before adding 15 points, two rebounds and an assist in Sunday’s 106-86 defeat of the Crandall Chargers.
He is averaging 11.1 points per game this season.
