BAIE-COMEAU, QUE. – Ivan Chekhovich scored the winner midway through the third period on the power play Friday as the host Baie-Comeau Drakkar defeated the Charlottetown Islanders 5-4 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Luke Kirwan had two goals while Edouard St-Laurent and Bradley Lalonde had singles in the win. Jordan Martel had three assists while D’Artagnan had two.

Daniel Hardie stayed hot for the Islanders. After scoring his first three for Charlottetown in Thursday’s win, the 19-year-old forward sniped twice on Friday. Sam King and Saku Vesterinen added singles. Sullivan Sparkes, Keith Getson, Liam Peyton and Nathaniel Doyon had helpers.

Francis Leclerc made 44 saves for the win while Dakota Lund-Cornish stopped 23 of 28 shots in the loss.

The game was tied 2-2 after the first period and 3-3 heading to the third.

King scored five minutes into the third, but Lalonde scored shorthanded two minutes later to tie it.

Baie-Comeau improved to 20-22-2-1 while Charlottetown falls to 26-15-3-0. The Islanders complete the three-game road trip Sunday at 5 p.m. Atlantic in Rimouski against the Oceanic (28-11-4-1).
