Nova Scotia teams dominate Spudchuckers softball tournament in O'Leary

P.E.I. teams in final of two divisions

O’LEARY – Nova Scotia teams completed a clean sweep of all four divisions in the O’Leary Recreation Department’s annual Spudchuckers softball tournament over the weekend.

Cole Harbour teams were in three of the finals and won two of them. Meanwhile, the respective Nova Scotia under-23 teams won the women’s and men’s open categories.
P.E.I. teams made it to the finals in under-16 and men’s open, with the O’Leary Eagles taking an early 2-0 lead before giving up four runs to the Nova Scotia under-23 team in the bottom of the fifth.
Overall, 18 teams participated in four divisions.
The Eagles were using the tournament as preparation for the North American Fastpitch Association championship in Fargo, N.D., in early August, and the Canadian championship in St. Croix, N.S., in late August.
