CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Brian Leslie’s empty net goal proved to be the winner Monday as the Sherwood Metros defeated the South Side MacDonald’s Excavation/EF MacPhee Lynx 2-1.

All three goals in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League were scored in the final 13:25 at Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown.

Logan Toole scored his 19th goal of the season on a Metros power play, Leslie added what looked like an insurance goal with 15 seconds left, but Ryan Beckinghan scored with one second remaining for the Lynx.

Owen and Jake Arsenault each had an assist for the Metros while Brady Vandervelden had a helper for the Lynx.

Blake Arsenault stopped 43 shots for the win while Sean MacPhee made 35 saves in the loss.

The Metros were 1-for-2 on the power play and killed all three of the Lynx opportunities.

Sherwood improved to a league-best 21-2-0 while the second-place Lynx fall to 15-9-1.
