Like all Prince Edward Islanders, Mike McCarville loves to share his sport with people from his home province.
That is something the Kensington native got to experience in Las Vegas on March 4. McCarville is the shock specialist for Kevin Harvick at Stewart Haas Racing, and there were “probably 30 Prince Edward Islanders” in attendance at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Harvick’s win in the Pennzoil 400.

“My first cousin, Kenny McCarville, he lives out Emerald way, him and son (Joe), who lives out in Fort McMurray, they were out here with a lot of their friends, and Jonathan Hicken from down east had a contingent here with him, and Paul Clark from Brackley had people out here with him,” explained McCarville. “It was neat because we all went to the Outback on Monday and enjoyed some Bloomin’ Onions for free on Kevin’s win on Sunday. It was awesome.
“I love it when there’s a bunch of people from P.E.I. in the crowd, and I know they are watching us. We have our set plans that we do every week to prepare the car, but in the back of my mind I think of trying just a little bit extra hard because the folks are there, and it would be really nice to end up in Victory Lane when I have some people from P.E.I. there.”
