Harness racing to return to Summerside on Friday

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Harness racing with limited spectators will return to Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway on Friday.

Post time is 6 p.m.

Red Shores, the Prince County Horsemen’s Club and the City of Summerside made the announcement on Thursday.

Reservations will be required at West End Bar & Grill in the lower level of Red Shores. Fans will be limited. Complete details are at redshores.ca. Customers who wish to attend the first card of the season in Summerside are required to make a restaurant reservation by calling 902-620-4264. For reservations for future dates, customers can call 902-888-5666 and select option 1. Reservations will be required at The Oval in the upper level of Red Shores. Customers can call 902-436-5551.

Fans from across North America will be able to watch and wager from their homes.

Red Shores and the P.E.I. Harness Racing Industry will be enforcing COVID-19 restrictions for all race participants, including physical distancing and the use of personal protective equipment. The historic Prince County oval will also hold the annual Canada Day card of harness racing on Wednesday, July 1, beginning at 1 p.m.
