KENSINGTON – The Kent Koyotes broke out in the third period.
The Koyotes scored four unanswered goals en route to a 5-2 victory over the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers on Sunday night. The interlocking game between the New Brunswick Junior Hockey League and Island Junior Hockey League was played at Community Gardens.
The Koyotes took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, but goals by Logan Vandervelden and Kyle Pinksen gave the Vipers a 2-1 cushion after 40 minutes.
Brandon Coulombe (1-2), Andy Chaisson (1-1), Joel Despres, Daniel Gallant and Jason Lurette scored for the Koyotes. Vincent Savoie (2) and Wayne Jones were credited with assists.
Nathan Sanderson, Parker Ronahan and CJ McCardle contributed assists for the Vipers, who now sit at 4-3-2 (won-lost-overtime losses).
The Vipers held a slim 40-37 shots-on-goal advantage. Alex Roussel registered the goaltending win, and Cameron Visser took the loss.
