KISH, TOSH, Westisle athletes earn PEISAA golf medals

Mayne, Murphy win gold at senior championships

BRUDENELL – Prince County athletes had strong showings at the P.E.I. School Athletic Association (PEISAA) senior golf championships recently.
Campbell Mayne and Lexie Murphy of Kensington Intermediate-Senior High School (KISH) won individual gold medals in their respective divisions at the Brudenell River Golf Club.
Mayne carded an 86 in senior A boys to finish two strokes ahead of Landon Clow (88), who is also from KISH. TJ MacLeod of Montague shot an 89 to claim the bronze medal.
Murphy, who shot a 97, was followed by KISH’s Hannah LeClair (103), who took home the silver medal. Madison McHugh of Westisle won bronze with a 109 score.
In senior AA boys, Cam White of Montague fired a 79 for a narrow one-stroke victory over Justin Caron of Three Oaks and Evan Stewart of Montague.

Team titles
Montague’s Matt Killeen-coached entry of White, Evan Stewart and Caleb Creed registered a 244 score to win the senior AA boys’ team title.
Three Oaks, coached by Greg Ellis and Sean MacDonald, finished three strokes back at 247. Team members are Caron, Ethan Boyd, Colby MacArthur and Sam McNeill.
Kevin Chen, Caden Kielly, Noah Brehaut and Josh Bourque of Charlottetown Rural had a 256 total to take the bronze medal.
In senior AA girls, the Rural squad of Robyn Power, Kathryn MacEwen, Emma Jinks and Yan Huang finished with a 348 score to win the senior AA girls’ team banner. Esther Esther Hoving coaches both Rural teams.


Westisle’s McHugh, Gemma Shea and Gracyn Handrahan carded a 376 score to earn silver.
The bronze-medal winners from Bluefield – Fiona Nicholson, Taelyn Hood, Haley Cole and coach Jeff Carragher – finished at 391.
Montague, coached by Killean, was the top team in senior A boys as MacLeod, Taylor Stewart and Jack Munro compiled a 274 score.
Bluefield, coached by Jeff Carragher, took home the silver medal after Ben Peters, Ryan Richards, Carter MacFadyen and Connor Crozier finished with a 283 total.
McAlduff coached the bronze-medal winning entry from Westisle. Team members Thomas Shea, Lucas Gallant and Dominic Arsenault had a 305 score.
