CHARLOTTETOWN – The 2017-18 Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League All-Star Game will carry extra significance for the Southside Lynx.
The Lynx will host the contest at the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 8 p.m.
Much like all-star games in the past, the main focus will be to support a league member. Proceeds from this game will go to Southside manager Steve Watts, who was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in October, and is still recovering in hospital.
In past games under this format, the league has supported a player undergoing cancer treatment in 2013, and a coach recovering from heart surgery in 2015.
Watts is in his ninth season as Lynx manager. He brought the team back into the league in 2009-10. He’s led them to the last three provincial championships, and has led the committee that won the right to host the 2018 Maritime-Hockey North junior C championships in Crapaud this coming spring.
The game will feature a league all-star team facing off against a team of alumni all-stars.
