ODENSE, DENMARK – Kim Landry and Dan McCarthy competed for Team Canada in the Age Group Sprint Duathlon competition at the World Multisport Championships this weekend in Odense, Denmark.
Sprint duathlon consists of a five -kilometre run, a 20-kilometre bike and a 2.5-kilometre run. Landry of Charlottetown was the first Canadian and 10th overall in her 40-44 age group. She finished the course in 1:13:41 while American Melisa Christian won in 1:06:32. Dan McCarthy of Summerside was the first Canadian and eighth overall in his 65-69 age group. He completed the course in 1:14:35 while American Keith Woodward won in 1:10:21.
Triathlon P.E.I. reminds the public it has a few events as part of its race series coming up in the next few months, including:
• Spud Isle Triathlon and KOS Triathlon in Georgetown on July 15;
• TriLobster Triathlon and KOS Triathlon in Summerside on Aug. 19;
• Brackley Duathlon on Sept. 23.
