CHARLOTTETOWN – The gold-medal matchups are set for the P.E.I. School Athletic Association intermediate A basketball championships at Stonepark Intermediate School on Tuesday.

The Miscouche Mustangs will meet Stonepark for the boys’ crown at 7 p.m., and Summerside Intermediate School and Montague Intermediate will decide the girls’ champion at 5 p.m. The finals will be preceded by the bronze-medal games – Gulf Shore girls vs. Hernewood at 1 p.m., and Souris boys against Summerside Intermediate.

Following is a recap of Saturday’s semifinals at Stonepark:

Girls
Summerside Intermediate 29
Gulf Shore 9

Desiree LaPierre had eight points and Kassidy Bernard added six to lead SIS. Abby Gallant, Brooklyn Toombs and Emma Langley all had two points for Gulf Shore.
Summerside Intermediate led 10-2 at the half.

Montague Intermediate 47
Hernewood 30

Kathleen Ryan had a game-high 17 points while Karyss MacDonald (10) and Erin Morris (6) also made key contributions. Hannah Gallant contributed 10 points for Hernewood.

Boys
Miscouche 55
Souris 53

In the most exciting finish of the day, the Mustangs prevailed in pulling out a two-point victory.
Shawn Aiken’s 19-point performance led the way, and Clark Farrell added eight. Jacob MacPhee (15), Mason MacCarville (10) and Tristen Ching (10) all scored in double digits for Souris.
Miscouche held a slim 18-16 advantage at half.


Stonepark 50
Summerside Intermediate 25

Tate Brazil (16), Isaac Hughes (15) and Abdi Mohamud (9) were the leading point-getters for Stonepark.
Cameron Gallant (10) and Drake Blacquiere (7) were the top offensive performers for SIS.
Stonepark was in front 26-10 at the half.
