CORNWALL

For the second time in as many meetings, the Mid Isle Wildcats and the Western Wind have skated to a tie in Island Midget AAA Girls Hockey League Action. The latest tie was a 1-1 summary Friday night in Cornwall.

The previous meeting on Nov. 30 ended in a 2-2 deadlock.

Makayla Larson’s unassisted marker with13:38 remaining in the second period had given the host Wildcats the lead.

A broken play in the neutral zone five minutes later led to the tying goal by the Wind’s Taylor Gillis, assisted by Gracyn Handrahan

Hanah LeClair tended net for the Wildcats and Darcy Augustine was in goal for the Wind. The Wildcats were assessed three of the game’s five minor penalties.

The Wildcats welcomed the North River Dragons Atom girls team as special guests as part of their ’Cats give back’ program. The Dragons’ Kayla Story dropped the ceremonial face-off and her whole team was treated to special seating, a pizza party ad a tour of the Wildcats’ dressing room to meet the players.
