CORNWALL – The Western Wind roared back in a big way on Friday night.
The Wind scored three unanswered goals in the last half of the third period to register a 4-2 come-from-behind win over the Mid-Isle Wildcats in a P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League game played at the APM Centre.
Hillary Gaudet, with her second of the night, Taylor Gillis and Stephanie Arsenault sparked the Wind’s comeback. Gillis, Paige Deighan, Josee Gallant, Tianna Gallant and Erin Arsenault-Gallant chipped in with helpers.
Lexie Murphy and Charlotte Linkletter, who gave the host Wildcats a 2-1 lead 3:57 into the third period, found the back of the net for Mid-Isle. Keiran Andrews and Kennedy Francis set up the goals.
Western led 1-0 after the first period on Gaudet’s first goal of the night, and the teams were tied 1-1 after the second.
Darcy Augustine earned the goaltending win. Hannah LeClair was between the pipes for Mid-Isle.
The Wildcats were assessed three of the game’s five minor penalties.
As part of the Cats Give Back program, the team welcomed the Mid-Isle atom AAA female team to Friday’s game.
