MONCTON, N.B. – James Phelan had a goal and two assists Sunday as the Moncton Wildcats defeat the Charlottetown Islanders 4-1 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Anderson MacDonald scored twice for the host Wildcats while Mike Cyr found the back of the net. Former Islanders netminder Mark Grametbauer, Daniil Miromanov, Alexander Khovanov, Jonathan Aspirot and Jakob Pelletier had assists.

Sullivan Sparkes from Sam King and Daniel Hardie replied for the Islanders.

Grametbauer made 29 saves for the win while Dakota Lund-Cornish stopped 20 shots in the loss.

The Wildcats helped 2-0 and 2-1 period leads.

Charlottetown was 0-for-3 on the power play but killed both of Moncton’s chances with the man advantage.

The Wildcats improved to 17-19-5-3 while the Islanders are 25-14-3-0. Charlottetown I on the road this weekend for games in Chicoutimi, Baie-Comeau and Rimouski on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, respectively.
