KENSINGTON – The Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild has widened their lead atop the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League standings.
The Wild, winners of nine straight games, registered a solid 3-1 victory over the second-place Moncton Flyers on Saturday night to open up a five-point lead. Kensington, which improved to 18-5-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), now has 37 points while the Flyers (15-6-2) sit at 32.
The two teams will meet again in Kensington on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Before an estimated 300 fans at Community Gardens, Wild rookie goaltender Chad Arsenault improved his league record to 13-0 with a solid 35-save performance.
Offensively, Frank Fortin scored twice and Evan Gallant added a single tally for the Wild. Ryan Richards (2), Colby MacArthur (2), Chandler Wood and Marc Richard chipped in with assists.
Cole Stewart netted the lone Moncton goal.

The Wild led 2-0 after the first period, and 3-1 following 40 minutes.
Daniel Thompson faced 30 shots for the Flyers.
The Wild received four minor penalties while the Flyers were whistled for two minors, one checking-to-the-head major and one game misconduct.
