Wild put on show in Tignish

TIGNISH

The Kensington Wild brought their NB/PEI Major Midget home game to Tignish on Friday night and treated the 425 fans to a dominant performance.

The Wild fired 41 shots at the Fredericton Caps goal and scored on seven of them. Leading the way for the Wild were Colby MacArthur with a hat trick, Frank Fortin with a goal and four assists and Ryan Richards with four assists.

The Wild led 3-0 after one period and 5-2 after the second en route to a 7-2 win. Also scoring for the Kensington-based Wild were Ethan Beaulieu (1,2), Thomas Rennie and Zac Arsenault. Adding assists were Chandler Wood, Marc Richards, Carter Cahill and Brad Campbell.

Antoni Matte was the only Caps to score on the Wild’s Caleb Coyle, ad he did it twice. Nick Hodd (2), Sam Dow and Sam Mossman assisted. Coyle was tested 29 times, stopping 27 of the shots.

The Wild fired 21 shots on the Caps starting goaltender Frederic Plourde before he was replaced 24 minutes into the game. Justin Dupuis faced 20 shots the rest of the way.

Although only eight penalties were called in the game, four to each team, six were for extra time for head shots. The Caps were assessed three double minors for head contact while the Wild were assessed a double minor and a five minute major, along with a game misconduct for head contact.
