TIGNISH – It was a wild finish to a Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League game at the Tignish Credit Union Arena on Sunday night.
Brayden Handrahan scored with 1:21 remaining in regulation time to lift the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces to a wild 8-7 victory over the North River Flames. Handrahan’s game-winning goal came just 12 seconds after the Flames’ Keirsten Steele had tied the game 6-6.
The Aces will take a 10-5-2 (won-lost-overtime losses) record into Monday night’s road game against the league-leading Sherwood-Parkdale Metros (16-1-0) at the Cody Banks Arena.
Dawson Sellick (3-1) and Handrahan (2-2) each had four points to lead the Aces, who held period leads of 3-2 and 6-5. Will Tuplin (1-1), Chance Pitre and Brydon Smith also scored for Tignish. Drake Smallman (2, Lexin Gaudet (2), Colton Chaisson (2), Denis Arsenault, Matthew Bowness, Daniel MacWilliams and Ryan Campbell were credited with assists.
Connor Andrews (2-1), Ethan MacFadyen (1-3), Spencer Beaton (1-2), Alex Young (1-1) and Matt Craig also found the back of the net for the Flames (6-8-2). Logan Aylward (2), Liam O’Connor and Blake Gallant added helpers.
Winning goaltender goaltender Kristen Clements stopped 26 of 33 shots. Jed Walsh turned aside 26 of 34 tests in the North River goal.
