KENSINGTON – The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers are entering a key part of their schedule.
The Vipers, who have won two of their last three games and are coming off a 3-0 road shutout over the Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros, host the Eastern Maniacs on Sunday. Game time for the Island Junior Hockey League contest at Community Gardens is 7 p.m.
It will be the front end of back-to-back games between the two teams as the Vipers will make a return trip to the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris on Friday, Dec. 22. The Vipers will then face arch-rival Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings in a home-and-home series, with the teams meeting at the Evangeline Recreation Centre on Boxing Day at 2 p.m., and back at the Gardens on Friday, Dec. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
The Vipers enter weekend play in third place at 7-6-3 (won-lost-overtime losses), but are just two points back of the second-place Metros (9-7-1) and three behind the league-leading Red Wings (9-5-2). The Maniacs are fourth at 3-9-1.
The Vipers, who will be looking for a strong effort from everyone, will have forward Riley Gallant back in the lineup on Sunday after he served an eight-game suspension.
