CAMPBELLTON, N.B. – Forward Coleton Perry of North Bedeque was presented with two awards by the Campbellton Tigers on Wednesday night.
Perry, who played the last two seasons with the Kyle Dunn-coached Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League, was named the most improved and most sportsmanlike player of the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) team.
The 17-year-old Perry, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2017 draft, 64th overall, registered 15 points – six goals and nine assists – in 46 regular-season games as a midget-aged rookie forward with the Tigers. He accumulated 10 penalty minutes.
“I’m loving every second of it,” said Perry in describing his rookie campaign with the Tigers. “I’m getting to meet new people and having a great time doing it.”
Perry, who is a regular penalty killer for the Tigers, said he “takes pride” in his defensive play.
“I like to know the coach can trust me when he puts me out there,” added the son of Randy and Penny Perry.
