MONCTON, N.B. – Easton Smith scored his second goal of the night at 3:25 of overtime to lift the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers to a 6-5 win over the Moncton Vitos on Thursday night.
The interlocking game between the Island Junior Hockey League and New Brunswick Junior Hockey League was played at the Superior Propane Centre.
Kyle Pinksen had two goals and an assist to lead the Vipers’ offence. Tyler Gallant (1-1) and Garrett Murray also scored for Kensington, which is 12-15-4 (won-lost-overtime losses). Keegan Buchanan added two assists.
Philippe-Alexis Vachon (2-2), Pat Landry (1-2), Pascal Dupuis (1-1) and Alexandre Gallant (1-1) countered for the Vitos.
The score was tied 1-1 after the first period, and 4-4 following the second.
Winning goaltender Cameron Visser stopped 44 of 49 shots.
The Vipers are scheduled to host the Souris-based Eastern Maniacs (6-20-1) at Credit Union Centre in Kensington on Sunday. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
