ABRAM-VILLAGE – The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings held off a third-period comeback attempt by the Eastern Maniacs on Sunday night.
The Red Wings held period leads of 3-0 and 4-1, before pulling out a 5-4 win in the Island Junior Hockey League game played at the Evangeline Recreation Centre.
Calvin McRae (1-1), Alex Morrissey, Chasse Gaudette, Cole Hackett and Silas Handrahan scored for the Red Wings, who upped their record to 5-5-2 (won-lost-overtime losses) and extended their point streak to six games. Curklan Fraser added a pair of assists.
Curtis McGregor (2), Eddie Jenkins and Syl Yoston answered for the Souris-based Maniacs (3-7-0). Jonathan Arsenault, Andrew Campbell and Spencer Compton all chipped in with two assists.
Bronson Banks registered the goaltending victory.
