SOURIS – The weather forecast has resulted in the postponement of an Island Junior Hockey League game Friday night.
The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings were scheduled to travel to the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris to take on the Eastern Maniacs, but that game has been rescheduled for the same location on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Red Wings and Maniacs will close out the regular season back in Souris on Sunday at 7 p.m. The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (14-16-5) and Sherwood-Parkdale A&S Scrap Metal Metros (18-16-1) will also close out the regular season at Credit Union Centre in Kensington, previously Community Gardens, on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The best-of-seven semifinals begin next week. The first-place Red Wings, who are 24-8-2 (won-lost-overtime losses), will host the Maniacs (9-22-3) in Game 1 at the Evangeline Recreation Centre on Tuesday. The Metros and Vipers will begin the other semifinal matchup at the Cody Banks Arena in Charlottetown on Friday, March 16. Both openers are 7:30 p.m. starts.
