Pride sweeps contests

CHARLOTTETOWN – The Charlottetown Pride swept a pair of games in the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League over the weekend.

Charlottetown Pride

The Pride, who picked up a 3-1 decision over the Miramichi Rivermen on Friday night, doubled the Fredericton Caps 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
The Pride is in third place in the six-team league at 7-8-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), three points up on the fourth-place Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild (5-8-2).

In Charlottetown, Connor McGregor (1-2), Grant MacAdam (1-1), Cale Pierce (1-1) and Declan MacEachern scored for the Islanders, who scored all four goals on the power play.
Patrick Pellerin (1-1) and Tyler Burke answered for the Caps (5-9-0).
The teams were tied 1-1 after one period, and 2-2 following 40 minutes.
Winning goaltender Erik McInnis made 24 saves.

In Miramichi, N.B., McGregor’s two-goal effort and a 25-save effort from Noah Laybolt led the Islanders.
Lucas MacAulay also scored for the Pride 6-8-1). Declan MacEachern (2), Noah Stewart, Josh MacDonald and Logan Kelly Murphy picked up helpers.
Simon Theriault netted the lone goal for the Rivermen (4-9-2).
Charlottetown held period leads of 2-0 and 3-1.
