Midget AAA, bantam AAA female hockey titles on line Thursday night

SUMMERSIDE – Two provincial female hockey championships will be decided in the fifth and deciding games of each series on Thursday.

The P.E.I. Midget AAA Female Hockey League will feature the Mid-Isle Wildcats hosting the Kings County Kings at Credit Union Place’s Ice Pad in Summerside at 7:45 p.m.
The Kings pulled out a 2-1 win in Montague on Wednesday night to even the set 2-2.
The winner of this series will hoist the Dalziel Cup, and earn the right to represent P.E.I. at the Atlantic championship in East Hants, N.S., from March 30 to April 2.

Meanwhile, at the Gateway Arena in Borden-Carleton, Heidi Lauwerjssen ended a marathon playoff game on Wednesday night.

Lauwerijssen, who was set up by Carly Thompson and Sophie Flynn, scored in the opening minute of the third overtime period to give the Mid-Isle Wildcats a 1-0 win over the Western Wind to tie that series 2-2.

Hannah LeClair earned the shutuout.
The winner-take-all fifth game for the Moase Cup will be played at the Evangeline Recreation Centre on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. The winning team will advance to the Atlantic championship in Moncton, N.B., from April 6 to 9.
