CRAPAUD – The Mid-Isle Matrix struck first in the best-of-five semifinal series against the Western Regals in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League.

Matthew Jelley earned the shutout as the Matrix posted a 4-0 decision in Game 1 at the South Shore Actiplex on Sunday. Game 2 is scheduled for the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton on Tuesday at 8:15 p.m.
The Matrix took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, and extended that margin to 4-0 after 40 minutes.
Zac MacKay scored two goals for the Matrix while singles came off the sticks of Joe MacEachern and Nathan Mahar. Colin Goodwin, Zach Wilson, Kayden MacLeod, Nick Trainor, Duncan Picketts and Matt Jelley chipped in with assists.
Colin Gaudette was between the pipes for the Regals.
