Matrix advances to midget AAA final

CORNWALL – The Robin's Mid-Isle Matrix completed a sweep of the Western Regals on Saturday night.
The Matrix received goals from seven different players in a 7-0 win to take the best-of-five semifinal series in three straight games. The Matrix will meet the winner of the Pownal and Kings County series. Pownal defeated Kings County 4-2 on Saturday night to take a 2-1 lead into Game 4 in Souris on Monday night.
At the APM Centre, the Matrix built period leads of 2-0 and 6-0.
Nick Trainor (1-2), Zach Wilson (1-1), Kayden MacLeod (1-1), Duncan Picketts (1-1), Ben Peters (1-1), Zac MacKay (1-1) and David Sato scored for the Matrix. Chandler LaPorte, Joe MacEachern and Brett MacDonald added single assists.
Matt Jelley recorded a 14-save shutout.
