BOISBRIAND, QUE. – Dixon MacLeod scored twice and Chad Arsenault made 21 saves as Team P.E.I. defeated Newfoundland and Labrador 2-1 Friday at the Gatorade Excellence Challenge in Boisbriand, Que.

P.E.I. improved to 1-2-0 at the event put on by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League as a scouting opportunity for prospects available in June’s draft.

Marc Richard had two assists while Charlie DesRoches and Keiran Gallant added singles.

Lucas Robinson scored for Newfoundland.

P.E.I. trailed 1-0 after the first period and went to the third tied 1-1. MacLeod, a five-foot-10, 165-centre from Rocky Point, scored the winner 8:41 into the final frame.

P.E.I. plays Nova Scotia Saturday at noon Atlantic.
