Jelley earns shutout for Matrix

SUMMERSIDE – Matt Jelley registered a 17-save shutout as the Robins Mid-Isle Matrix blanked the Summerside Capitals 4-0 on Wednesday night.
The P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League contest was played at Credit Union Place.
Brett MacDonald (1-1), Nick Trainor (1-1), Nathan Mahar and Duncan Picketts scored for the first-place Matrix, who improved to 11-2-1 (won-lost-tied). Zac MacKay (2), Chandler LaPorte, Zach Wilson, Callum Pineau and Ben Peters chipped in with assists.
The Matrix led 2-0 after the first and second periods.
Devin Newberry stopped 37 of 41 shots for the Capitals (2-11-0).
