CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The UPEI Panthers three-game win streak is over.

The Saint Mary’s Huskies thumped the Panthers 9-1 Saturday in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action in Halifax.

The Huskies held 3-0 and 5-1 period leads.

Anthony Repaci had two goal and an assists, former Charlottetown Islanders forward Jake Coughler scored twice while Hunter Garlent had three helpers to pace the Huskies attack.

Taylor Burke, Bronson Beaton, Calder Brooks, Alex Cord and Aaron Berisha also scored.

Mitchell Dempsey from Riley Whittingham and Nathan Yetman replied with the Panthers goal.

Former Isles goalie Eric Brassard made 11 saves for the win while Matt Mahalak allowed five goals on 24 shots in 35:46 in the loss. Connor Wilkinson stopped 10 of 14 shots in relief.

Saint Mary’s improved to 17-9-2 while UPEI falls to 9-18-1.

The Panthers host the Dalhousie Tigers Friday and St. FX X-Men Saturday to end the regular season. Both games are 7 p.m. starts.

The Panthers and Tigers are tied for fifth place.
