Big game
It’s also a big game for both teams as the Red Wings entered weekend play atop the league standings at 8-5-0 (won-lost-overtime losses), good for a one-point lead over the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers (7-4-1).
The Metros (6-8-1) are also right in the thick of things in third place, two points back of Kensington and three behind the Red Wings.
Both the Metros and Vipers were scheduled to play interlocking games in New Brunswick on Friday night.
Western, which is coming off a 5-2 home-ice win over the Vipers on Tuesday evening, is looking for a full team effort on Sunday.
Previous meetings between the Red Wings and Metros have featured tight games, and tempers have flared in recent matchups.
