Gallant’s four-point effort leads Vipers to 2-1 lead

KENSINGTON – Riley Gallant’s four-point effort led the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers to a bounce-back win on Sunday night.

Kensington Vipers

Gallant had one goal and three assists in the Vipers’ 8-3 victory over the Eastern Maniacs in Island Junior Hockey League playoff action. The Vipers lead the best-of-seven semifinal series 2-1, after the Maniacs pulled out a 4-3 win in Game 2 at the Eastern Kings Sportsplex on Friday. Game 4 is scheduled for Souris on Wednesday at 7 p.m., with Game 5 back in Kensington on Friday at 8 p.m.
At Community Gardens, Ryan McKenna scored twice for the Vipers while single tallies came off the sticks of Easton Smith (1-1), Campbell Gallant (1-1), Drew Grady, Jacob Stewart and Logan Vandervelden. Jordan Mayhew (3) and Spencer McAllister (2) had multiple-assist games.

For the Maniacs, Johnathan Arsenault (1-1), Matt Cox and Damon MacDonald found the back of the net.
Kensington built period leads of 4-2 and 7-3.
Winning goaltender Grant Grady turned in a 42-save performance as the Maniacs outshot the Vipers 45-43.
