Perry sets up game-winning goal for Tigers

Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild forward and assistant captain Evan Gallant of Abram-Village was named the most valuable player of the P.E.I. major midget hockey championship series on Saturday night. The Wild won the best-of-seven matchup against the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride in five games.

YARMOUTH, N.S. – Two players from Prince County earned assists in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) on Saturday night.
Forward Evan Gallant of Abram-Village recorded his first point with the Pictou County Crushers, and Campbellton Tigers forward Coleton Perry of North Bedeque extended his point streak to three games. Gallant and Perry are both products of the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild, members of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League.
Gallant assisted on the Crushers’ first goal in a 3-2 overtime loss to the host Yarmouth Mariners.
Yarmouth goaltender Tyler Caseley of Kensington made 26 saves for the win.
Gallant, who played the three previous seasons with the Wild, earned one assist in two games with the St. Stephen Aces as an affiliated player during the 2017-18 campaign. The Aces traded Gallant to the Crushers before the start of this season.

In Miramichi, N.B., Perry drew the only helper on Pascal Valcourt’s game-winning goal while short-handed at 16:21 of the second period as the Tigers built a 3-0 lead en route to a 3-2 win over the Miramichi Timberwolves.
Perry, in his second season with the Tigers, played the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons with the Wild.
