ABRAM-VILLAGE – The Wellington Flyers opened the West Prince Senior Hockey League playoffs on a winning note Tuesday night.
Neil Arsenault recorded the shutout while the Flyers scored single goals in each period en route to a 3-0 decision over the O’Leary Maroons. Game 2 in the best-of-five semifinal series is scheduled for the O’Leary Community Sports Centre on Saturday.
At the Evangeline Recreation Centre, Todd MacDougall had a goal and an assist to lead the Flyers’ offence. Colin Arsenault and Matt Kelly added single goals while Jeremy Arsenault (2), Marcel Landry, Lucas Verrette and Ben Johnson.
The period scores were 1-0 and 2-0.
Chase Dyment tended goal for the Maroons.
