CORNWALL – The East Prince Wildcats had a strong showing at the 12th annual Sweetheart female hockey tournament recently.
The Wildcats had a record of two wins and a tie in the 14-team Bantam A Division. The North River Minor Hockey Association hosted the event.
The Wildcats finished tied for fourth, but Montague advanced to the semifinals based on a plus-minus tiebreaker.

First game
In their first game, East Prince tied Metro West Force Red 1-1 at North Star Arena in North Rustico.
Brinley Gallant, assisted by Claire Keough and Lilly Reeves, scored for the Wildcats.
Anna Gavin, who was set up by Jordyn Small, countered for Metro West Force.
Goaltenders were Maggie Gaudet (East Prince) and Erin Chambers (Metro Force West).
The defensive player of the game for East Prince was Jill Lockerby, and the Wildcats’ top offensive player was Keira Rogers.

Second contest
In their second game, also played at the North Star Arena, Jessica Larsen scored two goals to lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 win over the Sussex Rangers.
Katie Acorn also scored while Rogers, Reeves, Gallant, Jeanna Pickering, Tori MacPhee and Charlotte Murray earned assists. Gaudet posted the shutout.
Murray was named the Wildcats’ defensive player of the game while Acorn took the offensive award.

Third match
In their final game, Larsen scored a hat trick and Gallant had a goal and two assists to lead East Prince to a 5-2 win over the North River Flames.
Jenna Clow also scored and added an assist. Reeves, Murray, Acorn and Hannah Silliker had the other Wildcats’ assists.
Anna Bowers and Payton Kelly scored for North River. Hayden Ford and Brin Wilson earned assists.
Gaudet was the winning goaltender.
Defensive player of the game for East Prince was Jenna Clow, and Larsen was the top offensive performer.
The Metro West Force White team defeated the Pictou County Subway Selects 2-1 to win the bantam A championship.
