KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Noah Dobson had a big night at the 2018 Sport Chek World Junior Showcase late Thursday night.

The Summerside native, who is a defenceman with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, scored two goals during regulation time to help Team Canada to a 4-3 overtime win over Finland. Dobson’s first goal at 3:35 of the second period gave Canada a 2-1 lead, and he increased that margin to 3-1 with a power-play goal at 6:54 of the third period.
Charlottetown Islanders goaltender Matthew Welsh stopped eight of the nine shots he faced in 30 minutes of action.
Maxime Contois scored the winning goal at 4:33 of overtime.
The World Junior Showcase, which also includes the United States and Sweden, is an opportunity for players to compete for spots for the 2019 world junior hockey championship that will be held in Vancouver and Victoria, B.C., from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5. Hockey Canada has invited 40 players to the summer showcase.
