Crunch defeats Lynx to salvage split

CRAPAUD – The Summerside Cover-All Crunch salvaged a weekend split with a road win Saturday night.
After losing 7-1 to the visiting Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces on Friday night, the Crunch bounced back for a 6-4 road win over the Southside Lynx in the Razzy's P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.

At the South Shore Actiplex, James Birt’s hat trick paced the Crunch, who improved to 8-13-1 (won-lost-overtime losses). James Briand (1-2), Colton Morris (1-1) and Marc-Andre Gallant also scored for Summerside, which received helpers from Tanner Jamieson, Skyler Phillips and Remi Arsenault.
Tyson Beckingham (2-1), Ryan Beckingham (1-2) and Tyler Jurkowski replied for the Crapaud-based Lynx (15-8-1).
The period scores were 2-0 and 5-3 in favour of the Crunch.
Winning goaltender Connor Gallant made 31 stops. Caelan Ferguson faced 27 shots for the Lynx.

Aces 7 Crunch 1
At The Plex in Slemon Park, Will Tuplin (1-2), Brayden Handrahan (1-2), Dawson Sellick (1-1), Chase McHugh (1-1), Keaton Horne (1-1) and Drake Smallman dented the twine for the Aces, who built period leads of 4-0 and 6-0. Ben Boulter (2), Brady Albert, Brayden Arsenault, Ryan Campbell, Matthew Bowness and Colton Chaisson added helpers.
Jamieson, assisted by Phillips and Brett Cheverie, netted the lone Summerside goal.
Andrew Gallant made 29 saves in earning the goaltending win.
The Aces will take a 14-6-2 record into Sunday night’s home game against the North River Flames (9-11-2).
