TIGNISH – Matt Craig keyed the North River Flames’ road win over the Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces on Sunday night.
Craig scored a hat trick and assisted on another in the Flames’ 4-3 decision at the Tignish Credit Union Arena. Two of Craig’s goals came in the third period.
Kyle Doucette (1-2) also scored for the Flames, who are 10-11-2 (won-lost-overtime losses). Logan Aylward (2), Tanner Hood and Patrick Young assisted.
Oliver Smallman (1-1), Matthew Bowness and Dawson Sellick countered for the Aces (14-7-2). Brayden Arsenault (2), Drake Smallman and Brayden Handrahan set up the goals.
The score was tied 1-1 after 20 minutes, and 2-2 at the end of two.
The final shots-on-goal totals were 37-30 in favour of the Flames, who outshot the Aces 15-7 in the third period. Summer Docherty earned the goaltending win. Andrew Gallant stopped 26 of 28 shots in 38 minutes for the Aces, and Kristen Clemens turned aside nine of 11 in 22 minutes of action.
