The Capitals sent Zack Beaton of Stratford and American Tucker White to the Miramichi Timberwolves in exchange for Bailey Webster of Kensington and Evan Millman of Alberton. The Timberwolves also receive future considerations.
“We are very excited to add two Island D men to our list,” said Capitals general manager Pat McIver. “We expect Millman to be at camp, and Webster is still in Saint John, so we will monitor that situation (with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Sea Dogs).
“With our depth at the forward position, we felt we could move Zack. It wasn’t easy, but to add depth to our blue-line we needed to deal from our area of strength.
“We wish Beats (Beaton) all the best.”
Wild graduates
Millman, 17, and Webster, 16, played for the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League, and both shoot right-handed.
In 31 regular-season games last season, the six-foot-three and 194-pound Webster finished third in team scoring. He had five goals and 20 assists for 25 points while picking up 16 penalty minutes.
Millman, who is listed at six-foot-two and 185 pounds, appeared in 32 regular-season games, recording two goals, four assists, six points and 86 penalty minutes. Millman’s older brother Blake graduated from the Caps last season.
Beaton, 19, finished the 2012-13 season with the Caps, appearing in 29 regular-season games after starting the season with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. With the Caps, Beaton registered two goals, three assists, five points and 54 penalty minutes. He spent last season with the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Beaton had three points, including two goals, and 84 penalty minutes in 45 games.
