VIENNA, Austria – Dave Cameron has a new coaching job.
The graduate of Kinkora Regional High School and resident of Kildare Capes was named head coach of the Vienna Capitals, a pro team that plays in the Austrian Hockey League.
Cameron, 59, served as an assistant coach with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League the past two seasons. Prior to that, he spent six seasons with the NHL’s Ottawa Senators as both an assistant and head coach.
Cameron, a former head coach of the Summerside Western Capitals’ junior A team, also has extensive head-coaching experience at the major junior level in the Ontario Hockey League, and he’s also coached in the American Hockey League and the former Colonel Hockey League.
Cameron, an eighth-round pick of the New York Islanders in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft, played 168 games in the NHL.
