MONCTON, N.B. – It was a big night for the MacKinnon family of Summerside on Wednesday.
Brothers Ryan and Carson MacKinnon scored goals for their respective teams.
Ryan registered a goal and two assists for the UPEI Panthers in a 6-4 road loss to the Moncton Blue Eagles in an Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey contest.
Ryan is averaging a point a game with nine points – three goals and six assists – in nine regular-season games.
UPEI is 2-6-1 (won-lost-overtime losses), and hosts the UNB Varsity Reds (7-0-1) at the Bell Aliant Centre on Saturday at 7 p.m. Bedeque native Gardiner MacDougall is head coach of the Varsity Reds, and Kinkora native Charlie Cameron is an assistant with UNB.

Meanwhile, Carson netted his third goal of the season for the Rimouski Oceanic, who dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Val-d’Or Foreurs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Carson, who has five points in 15 regular-season contests, opened the game’s scoring at 11:21 of the first period.
The Oceanic is 9-4-2.
Ryan and Carson are the sons of John and Mona MacKinnon.
